Course Description

Program Description Cambrian College's Business Administration- Accounting program prepares students to deal with the increasingly complex and dynamic environment in which business and industries must operate by providing a solid understanding of business practices and building students' critical and analytical skills for effective decision-making and managerial leadership. The program balances an intense focus on accounting with a broad education in other areas of business by combining courses in financial accounting, managerial skills, finance, cost accounting systems, auditing, computerized accounting, and personal and corporate income taxation. The Business Administration- Accounting program blends traditional lectures with interactive student discussion, formal presentations, and individual work on practical exercises that model the real business world. Students gain proficiency in spreadsheets and other necessary computer skills as well as in the latest accounting software including Sage 50, Profile, and Caseware. A placement in semester six provides additional hands-on experience and opportunities for networking. In addition to attaining a rewarding career, graduates may choose to pursue a professional designation or graduate studies.
